1-2	Sherborne	Sherborne Music Festival at New Music School, Sherborne School. A celebration of the opening of a new £3.5 million music school at Sherborne School. To mark this landmark event we are opening our doors to the public and invite you to come and see the new School and hear live concerts ranging from a blue grass band to a symphony orchestra. Over the two days there will be 181 boys playing, from thirteen to eighteen years of age. Free entry - All welcome.
8	Wimborne	Orfeo ed Euridice at Wimborne Minster from 7.30pm-9.15pm. Orfeo ed Euridice is a moving tale of love and the power of music. Orfeo must charm the furies in the underworld with his singing if he is to win back his love. Countertenor Joe Bolger is certain to charm them and you with his moving interpretation of the role. Dorset Productions’ two favourite sopranos return after wowing audiences in The Marriage of Figaro. Faye Eldret is the doomed Euridice, and the world is set to rights by Amor, in the form of Abbi Temple. The cast will be complimented 'in the pit' by a fine chamber orchestra and chorus, whilst on stage a team of young dancers will change from Orfeo’s companions into furies and blessed spirits.

9	Plush	Music at Plush 2010 - Plush 6 at St John's Church, Plush, Dorset DT2 7RJ. The Merel Quartet present a thrilling programme that features Leos Janácek's expressive masterpiece, the 'Kreutzer Sonata', at its heart. Schumann String Quartet in A minor, Op. 41 No. 1; Janácek String Quartet No. 1 'Kreutzer Sonata'; Beethoven String Quartet E flat, Op. 74. Tickets: £16.
10	Weymouth	The Bootleg Shadows Live in Concert at Weymouth Pavilion Theatre from 7.30pm until 10pm. For anyone who loves the sounds of the 60s - and enjoys a few laughs on the way - The Bootleg Shadows perform a unique tribute that has audiences humming the tunes and doing the Shadows famous 'walk' long after they have left the theatre. Remember fantastic hits such as Apache, Dance On, Wonderful Land, Kon-Tiki, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, FBI, Foot Tapper, Atlantis and many more. The Bootleg Shadows bring the unforgettable sound of The Shadows back to life with amazing accuracy and attention to detail.
10	Bridport	Makers Market at Eype Church for the Arts. Over 50 local makers showcase their talents...a wonderful opportunity to view, buy and be inspired! 10am-4pm, refreshments too.
10	Christchurch	Concert by Grange Choral Society at Christchurch Priory Church at 7.30pm. Durufle Requiem - Borodin Polovtsian Dances - Brahms Liebeslieder performed by Grange Choral Society. Tickets available from Christchurch Information Centre or at the door. Doors open at 7pm.
10	Yetminster	Yetminster Fair - street fair and craft marquee, music, dancing, food and drink, children's rides, street entertainment. Starts 1pm, a good family afternoon out. Yetties concert at 8pm, tickets from Ron Page, 01935 872940.
10-11	Weymouth	Dorset Seafood Festival on Weymouth harbourside. A perfect setting for the seafood village with over 25 food stands serving a wide variety of cooked seafood dishes. Cooking demonstrations by top chefs Mark Hix, Giles Thompson and 2009 MasterChef winner Mat Follas. Fishtucker trials, fish filleting demonstrations, champagne and wine matching demos, fresh fish auctions and much more.
10-11	Mosterton	Mosterton Summer Show 2010 with vintage tractors, cars, stationary engines and more. Daily tickets: adults £3, children £1. Evening entertainment includes the band 'Ship of Fools' - tickets £5.
11	Plush	Music at Plush 2010 - Plush 7 at St John's Church, Plush, Dorset DT2 7RJ. The Kuss Quartet join us at Plush again to perform two monumental string quartets by Beethoven and Schubert. Beethoven String Quartet in F, Op. 135; Schubert String Quartet in G, D 887. Tickets: £16.
12-16	Lytchett Minster	Lytchett Minster Arts Festival at Lytchett Minster School. A great chance to see a wide range of professional music and dance performers from The Mighty Zulu Nation to the classical piano playing of concert pianist William Hancox. All in the beautiful setting of this manor house school or its brand new theatre.
14-15	Bournemouth	Freeway Poets at The Winchester, 39 Poole Hill, Bournemouth, Dorset BH2 5PW from 7pm until late.
17	Weymouth	Westham Methodist Church Summer Fayre at Westham Methodist Church, Newstead Road, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 0AR. A free community event for all. Stalls, games, cream teas, children's play area.
21	Bovington	The Tank Museum Evening Summer Outdoor Concert. From Aborfield near Reading, The Band of the Corps of The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers will play a medley of music from marches and classical favourites, to Silver Screen, Big Band, Soul and there will be a bit of fun too... A large floodlit stage will be positioned in the grounds of the Museum so that everyone will have a great view of the bands as they perform their repertoires. Visitors are welcome to bring seating and picnics and refreshments will be available to purchase on site from approved vendors. All concerts will commence at 7.00pm. Access on to the concert site will be from 5.30pm. Tickets for each concert: £10 (under 14s go free). Summer Concert Season Ticket: £35.00 (All 4 summer concerts included). 25	Bridport	Bridport Vintage Market at the Old Albion, St Michaels, Bridport, Dorset DT6 3RR. Come and enjoy the Vintage Market situated within the Art and Vintage Quarter of Bridport on the last Sunday of each month from midday to 4pm. Antique Centre, six shops and lots of stalls for furniture, fabric, flowers and food along with all things vintage.
25	Christchurch	Summer Garden Fete at Avon Lee Lodge held in aid of local charity S.P.R.I.N.G. A wide range of stalls, cream teas, bouncy castle, skittles, face painting and Ferndown Concert Brass.
24-14 Aug	Bridport	Sing for WaterAid at Bridport Town Hall, East Street. Three workshops to learn WaterAid songs and try to raise £2000 for this ethical charity. Email bridportwateraid@gmail.com to find out more.
24-5 Sept	Bournemouth	'Under The Sea' at the Oceanarium - a themed activity schedule with a range of fun activities including: Face Painting, Temporary Tattooing, Badge Making and a Celebrity Fish Quiz Trail with all your favourite underwater film and TV characters. All activities vary throughout the week and are subject to availability and may be subject to change without prior notice. All activities are included in the standard admission price, except temporary tattooing - * £1 donation in aid of Monk Seal conservation.
25-30 Aug	Lulworth	Spectacular Summer Jousting Shows as the Lulworth Knights return for battle. Dramatic sword fights, jousting and daredevil horseback stunts take place in front of the Castle. Marvel at the falconers as they present their Birds of Prey and take them through their airborne skills. 26-29	Weymouth	Finding Jonah - Summer Holiday Club for 5-11 year olds at Westham Methodist Church, Newstead Road, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 0AR from 10am-12pm each day. Have a 'whale of a time' exploring the story of Jonah and how to follow God's instructions with crazy games, cool crafts, puppets, wacky water games and funky music. 30	Portland	'The Secret Garden' at Portland Castle. Gates open at 6.30pm, performance starts at 7pm. Bring chairs, picnics, wine and friends and enjoy an enchanting evening of outdoor theatre, as Frances Hodgson Burnett's poignant tale of a proud and headstrong girl discovering some of life's lessons as a consequence of stumbling upon her Uncle's secret garden, is brought to life by Heartbreak Theatre. 31	Poole	Oakdale Village Charity Village Fete at the Oakdale Community Centre and Field. Bring down the whole family for our free charity village fete in association with Hope FM. With bouncy castles, loads of fete games, local market stalls and performances by local dance and community groups there will be plenty to keep you occupied. This event is raising money for the National Society of Epilepsy Kilimanjaro climb. So show your support at what will be a fantastic day out. Open 9am - 6pm. Free entry. 31	Weymouth	The opportunity motorbike ride from Lodmoor. Charity motor bike ride in Weymouth for the Dorchester opportunity group. Meeting at Lodmoor car park at 10am setting off at 10.30am. Riding the coastal road to Eype, Crewkerne, Dorchester, Broadmayne, Osmington, Preston, Weymouth and back to Lodmoor. There will be a £5 min donation per bike with all money raised going to the Dorchester opportunity group special needs preschool.
