2-3BournemouthFreeway Poets at The Winchester, 39 Poole Hill, Bournemouth, Dorset BH2 5PW. Rapper, writer, poet and singer, Dizraeli is a hip hop tour de force. Taking in politics, love, rain, supermarkets, grief, drug culture and masculinity with a sense of humour and directness that can make you wince, Diz is the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam winner, the 2006/7 Farrago UK Slam Poetry Champion. He's also one third of the Mud Sun platoon, alongside Baba Brinkman and Mr Simmonds. Guest Local Poet is Sean Street. He is a poet, broadcaster, writer and teacher making radio features for BBC Radios 3 and 4, engaged in teaching and research in Bournemouth Media School, Bournemouth University. Reading from his new collection Time Between the Tides. Starts 7pm. From the last Freeway Poets they have made a book with poems and illustrations from the night. 5PlushMusic at Plush 2010 - Plush 1 at St John's Church, Plush, Dorset DT2 7RJ. Imogen Cooper and Wolfgang Holzmair give the first ever Plush performance of Schumann's most famous song-cycle, 'Dichterliebe', alongside other Schumann Lieder and the quirkily engaging 'Volkston' pieces for cello and piano. Schumann Five Heine Lieder; Schumann 5 Stücke im Volkston,for cello and piano, Op. 102; Schumann Dichterliebe, Op. 48. Tickets: £20 (fund raising event).
5Holton LeeHolton Lee Summer Fair. We are offering all local music talent the opportunity to perform on the day. Twenty minute slots are available and we are also running a music competition which will be judged by Richard Ely of The Richard Ely Trust. Wessex Assisting Dogs will be demonstrating their dogs' abilities at supporting disabled people and there will be prizes for regular pooches that can complete the same tasks, so just bring your dog along on the day. Why not have a go at making a handmade go cart and enter it in our Go Cart Competition? All local teddy bears have the opportunity to take a 100ft leap from Westbourne Fire stations Aerial ladder platform and parachutes will be provided. We will also have lots of food on offer, stalls, tours of the estate and arts and crafts activities.
12Portland1940s Day at Portland Castle from 10am to 5pm. Join us for games and a look around the military vehicles as they end their parade from Weymouth at around 1.30pm. Approximately 50 vehicles will make their way from Weymouth Pavilion, along the Esplanade and across the causeway to end their journey at the Castle. We will be offering themed refreshments from the café and families can get involved with traditional games. Prices: Adults £4.20/Concessions £3.60/Children £2.10/Family £10.50. English Heritage Members: Free.
12BridportNetherbury Gardens Open from 2pm to 6pm - 15 village gardens open including four that open for the NGS. Lunches from 12.30pm to 2pm.
13PooleFood Inc Movie Screening & Food Market at the Lighthouse Poole. Doors open at 12pm to public, film starts at 2pm to ticket holders. Food Inc is a documentary about the food industry in America. It focuses on the fact that America's food supply is now controlled by a few large corporations who often put profit ahead of consumer health. Tickets cost £10 for the movie screening and include a goody bag and entry into a prize draw with gifts from Dorset Cereals, Clipper tea and more. Tickets can be purchased from The Green Deli at Ashley Cross, Cafe Boscanova in Boscombe or Lighthouse Poole. Food market is open to the public from 12pm and will include stands and stalls from Lulubelle's cupcakes, The Olive Tree Cookery School, Cafe Boscanova, Piddle Brewery and many more.

17-19ChristchurchBOS Musical Company will be performing 'Seussical the Musical' at the Regent Centre in Christchurch. Based on the works of children's author Dr Seuss, this delightful family musical brings together many of Dr Seuss' best loved stories in one magical adventure. Colourful characters such as The Cat In The Hat, Horton the Elephant and The Grinch are lovingly brought to life through the beautiful music and lyrics of Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime & Once On This Island), co-conceived by Eric Idle (Monty Python). Seussical made its debut on Broadway in 2000 and has been heralded as an uplifting, educational and inspirational show appealing to the young and the young at heart! The storyline has both morality and integrity proving that through determination, honesty and a good heart, right can prevail against the odds and that the power of imagination can change our whole way of thinking.
18PlushMusic at Plush 2010 - Plush 2 at St John's Church, Plush, Dorset DT2 7RJ. Prodigious pianist Kit Armstrong returns to Plush with the Szymanowski Quartet and Adrian Brendel. This concert traces a fascinating path from Bach to Schumann, culminating in Schumann's wonderful Piano Quintet. 19DorchesterMidsummer Tea Party at All Saints Church, Nether Cerne, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 7AJ from 2.30-5pm. The aim of Midsummer Tea Party is to encourage everyone, of any faith or none, to discover and explore these remarkable buildings and find out how they can be saved for future generations by bringing them back into everyday use. Examples range from circus schools and theatres to community centres and nurseries.

Plant stall and teas in the vicarage garden. Day ticket for entry to all gardens: adults £5, accompanied children free. Proceeds divided equally between St Mary's church organ fund and Dorchester Poverty Action Group.
19-20Maiden NewtonMaiden Newton at War 2010 at Greenford School, Maiden Newton. WW2 themed weekend - re-enactor displays/battles/tanks. Full programme of entertainment throughout the weekend. Over 200 English, American and German re-enactors will be taking part. Tank Battle 2.00 p.m. each day. Evening concert with Sophie Garner Band & support 7.30 p.m. Saturday 19th June Visitors to the weekend are encouraged to dress WW2 style. Gates open at 10.00 a.m. each day. Once again Wool Carnival is back at the D'Urberville Hall Playing Field with the processions leaving Breach Field at 11am with the main event from midday to 5pm with a Grand Raffle. Events includes tombola, bottle stall, model car racing, gymnastics, drum corps from Chilton Cantelo School, majorettes and a dog show to be judged by Monkey World's co-founder, Dr Alison Cronin.
26WeymouthThe Big Feed for National Breastfeeding Week on Weymouth beach (behind the old aquarium) from 2-3.30pm. The Weymouth, Dorchester & Blandford National Childbirth Trust branch is marking National Breastfeeding Week by holding a Big Feed on Weymouth beach. We invite all breastfeeding mothers (past, present and mothers-to-be) and their families to turn up, but the event is open to anyone who wishes to show their support. This is also an opportunity to network and make friends with other parents, and we encourage those who want to, to make an afternoon of it by bringing along food, drink, beach toys and anything else to make it a family afternoon out. In the event of bad weather, we will have use of the old aquarium.

27BridportDorset Gardens Trust 2010 Garden Day at Chideock Manor, 2 miles west of Bridport. Entry is £5 for this an exciting all-day (from 10am - 5pm) Sunday event for lovers of gardens and beautiful country in a magnificent setting - by kind invitation of Howard & Deirdre Coates. Specialist plant sales, stalls, displays, lectures, creative flower arranging demonstrations and refreshments. The Chideock Manor estate is of medieval foundation and has been occupied for over 650 years, principally by the Arundell and Weld families. The present Roman Catholic Church which was built in a highly original Italian Romanesque style in 1870 by the Weld family will provide the venue for lectures chaired by Penelope Hobhouse. Previous DGT Garden Days were at Thornhill in 2008, Parnham in 2006, Melbury in 2004, and Encombe in 2002. They have all been major events with attendances between 1000 - 2500. Funds raised enable the DGT to continue its work in protecting the historic parks and gardens of Dorset.
27SherborneSherborne Girls Summer Charity Fair at Sherborne Girls, Bradford Road, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 3QN from 3.00pm to 5.30pm. The family fun day will be based within the school grounds, in and around a marquee, making it suitable for all weather. There will be many attractions including games, stalls, bouncy castles, face painting and much more. Entry to the event is free and all proceeds will be donated to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Kids Company.
27Dorchester'Muddy Wellies' at Kingcombe Environmental Studies Centre, Toller Porcorum, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 0EQ from 10.30am. Help us with insect surveys around the site, followed by a look at the moth trap with Bryan Edwards (DERC). Get fit, get involved and get buzzing, making a difference at Kingcombe in International Year of Biodiversity. The Muddy Wellies Team meets at the Kingcombe Centre on the first Sunday of the month, getting stuck into tasks around the site. Several other sessions are held throughout the month, suitable for all volunteers to come along and try their hand at a new skill, learn about wildlife or maybe help out an event or two.

Come and enjoy the Vintage Market situated within the Art and Vintage Quarter of Bridport on the last Sunday of each month from midday to 4pm. Antique Centre, six shops and lots of stalls for furniture, fabric, flowers and food along with all things vintage.
