Following suggestions of where to find a fish and chips restaurant in West Bay - we enjoyed a visit to The Seasider in Forty Foot Way which had a pleasantly old fashioned ambience, friendly staff, jolly good fish and chips complete with tea and bread and butter. Well above the national average on our score sheet.

Dorset - you cannot beat it, we visit at least once a year! One of my ancestral counties and would welcome enquiries if you think you are related to the Hammetts of Tolpuddle (kevinmcmahon688@btinternet.com).

Have just come back from 2 weeks in Dorset. Loved the place. Would recommend Kingston Lacey (NT) and Athelhampton House to anyone who likes a bit of history. They are a bit pricey but worth it. Also try the walk from Studland out to Old Harry Rocks - easy to follow path with great views at the end!

I am booked into a hotel in Weymouth for Xmas. Can anyone suggest things to do at that time of year?
Rubes replied: Plenty of good coastal walks if the weather is fine. Monkey World is also well worth a visit if you have time, it is about 30 mins drive from Weymouth.

Can anybody help me? I have just found out that a World War I veteran by the name of John Newman lives in Dorchester. He was in the Westminster Rifles in World War I. Please could somebody tell me where in Dorchester he now lives. I would be grateful if somebody could help me on this as I am doing some World War I research. Thank you very much. Please email me at mardenroad@hotmail.com.

I love your site. My partner and I have just come back from a trip to Bournemouth and we found plenty of great places to eat thanks to your restaurant guide. Keep up the good work.

My husband and I have just returned from a tour around your beautiful country and Dorset was one of our favourite stops. We just couldn't get enough of those cream teas. We found a very charming and friendly pub in Puncknowle called the Crown Inn. We hope to come back someday.
